Marc Evans A physiotherapist has joined the army of volunteers working to keep Olympians in top shape as they continue to compete in the London 2012 Games.

Marc Evans, 30, from Flitwick, is based at the Polyclinic in the Athletes’ Village having battled through a selection process that attracted more than 250,000 applicants.

Marc, who works as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist at Evans and Hill Physiotherapy in Flitwick and formerly worked for MK Dons Football Club, has swapped his day job for a role providing physiotherapy to Olympic athletes and claims he is loving every minute.

He said: “I am assessing, treating and rehabilitating the athletes who do not have their own medical staff, as well as supporting other national medical teams and can be based at training venues if I’m needed.

“My friends outside the physiotherapy profession think I’m crazy as I’m getting up at 4.30am to get there on time and won’t be getting paid.

“However, opportunities like this don’t come up often. It is great to be working with so many other top sports medical staff and am relishing this professional development opportunity.

“The long hours are certainly challenging my expertise, as I’m expected to deliver a world-class level of service at all times.”
